How to Tell a Recalled Battery Pack from a New One

The recall for the 2nd generation standard range battery pack only applies to boards shipped between September - November 2016. All 1st generation boards as well as 2nd generation boards shipped after that date do not fall under this recall. All extended range packs also do not fall under this recall.

To visually tell the difference between a new and a defective standard range battery pack, simply look at the sticker on the top of the battery pack above the power button. Look for the UN38.3 certification symbol. New batteries have a box around "UN38.3" (see below). Batteries covered under the recall do not (see below).
